Make Sure You Understand The iPhone Data Feature

Long gone are the days when mobile phones were just used to make phone calls, now you get much more than that, you can send pictures and videos to other people, access the internet, and much more, the iPhone claims to offer the most it is possible to get in one gadget and includes the iPhone data feature.

The iPhone data feature refers to any element of your mobile phone contract that is classed as data rather than phone calls.  Phone calls form one part of how your bill is calculated, along with normal text messages, however anything else comes under the umbrella of iPhone data features and is billed differently

Understanding Data.

When you use your phone to communicate with the outside world in anyway, the phone is sending out signals that either use the voice network, where we send all our mobile telephone calls and standard text messages, or the signals hit the data network because we are using applications such as the internet.

The iPhone data feature is part of many of their applications, as you will be accessing the data network each time you access features such as Safari, iTunes and multimedia messages. This means that instead of accessing the voice network, applications such as the Internet require the data network to send and receive information

These iPhone data features have their own charges, which if not taken into accphoneount can quickly become very expensive without you realising it as charges are calculated on a minute-by-minute use.  Thankfully the lovely people at Apple have considered this, and have decided to incorporate much of the charging into the iPhone price.

The ongoing service charges are then covered by your monthly payment charge, as currently all iPhone data feature charges are included in the service plan monthly payment, however this does mean that you are unlikely to find an iPhone on less that $30 a month, as Apple has to make sure it is worth their while too, they did have a $15 but this was quickly reconsidered and withdrawn by all providers.

One last thing to consider with the iPhone data feature is that there is no international roaming built in to your bill, so if you have to go out of the country then any iPhone data feature usage will be charged as extras, and not part of your monthly service plan which could mean that if you are not careful you can come home to a huge monthly bill.
